Thanks for visiting my website. Periodically, I will be updating this Newsblog, the Photos section, and the Press area to keep my clients, colleagues and friends of the firm current on what is happening here. Typically we include reports on seminars I have given, general comments on public cases I have filed, published articles, trial results, and of course a few photos of my band “The Impostors” doing our thing.

So far in 2009, I have been very active handling attorney ethics cases representing lawyers. This part of my practice has become very busy. We have been getting some really positive outcomes for lawyers who faced serious allegations of ethical transgressions. Knock on wood, our good results will continue.

In addition to the attorney ethics work, we’ve had a good start in 2009, winning several litigated business disputes, personal injury cases, and various contract matters for longstanding business clients.

Extracurricular activities also have been numerous. The Impostors band played private parties in January at the Hyatt Headquarters Hotel in Morristown, in February at the Toby Katz Center in West Orange, and at the North Jersey Country Club in Wayne on February 13th. Next up will be the Morris County Bar Association Beefsteak Dinner in May 2009.

Brian at Court HouseMy activities with the bar association and the Morris County Bar Foundation included being sworn in as First Vice President of the MCBA and President of the foundation for 2009. The swearing in ceremony took place in January at the Madison Hotel.

My latest Press included an article I wrote for New Jersey Lawyer Magazine and ran in February 2009, entitled, “Rock & Roll Lawyers.” Check out the article in the Press area of this website. In March 2009, I presented a seminar on business development along with co-panelists Edward Deutsch, Esq. of McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter, LLP and Jon Harper, Esq. counsel to the BASF Corporation. The seminar was sponsored by Thomson West Company, the legal publisher and the Morris County Bar Association. We had 75 attorneys in attendance. The panelists shared our respective experiences and strategies on developing business and maintaining client relationships in this very challenging time for law firms. I was very satisfied with the seminar and the feedback from the attorneys in the hall was great, as were the comments from participants during the post-seminar cocktail hour. From my perspective I learned a lot from both Ed Deutsch and Jon Harper listening to their tips and strategies for building successful careers.

Well, that’s it for now. Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to email me with any comments or thoughts you might want to share on the practice of law. Or let me know the latest outdoor adventure you undertook, or even recommend some music that I should be listening to.
